Viewing Password History

Vault keeps the 5 most recent passwords for a login. When you change a login’s password and save, the previous one is added to its history automatically.

To see it:

  1. Open the login.
  2. Expand Password history - the heading shows how many entries there are.
  3. Each entry shows when that password was last used. Use the eye icon to reveal a password, or the copy icon to copy it.

Passwords are masked by default. If you don’t have permission to view an item’s password - for example a hidden password in a Shared Vault - the history entries stay masked.

Tips

  • History is saved automatically when you change a login’s password; only the 5 most recent are kept.
  • Use it to recover a password you overwrote by mistake.
