Overview
Deduplication finds likely-duplicate items in your vault and merges them in a few clicks. Detection runs entirely in your browser, on data only you can read.
Deduplication is a Premium feature. On a free plan you can see how many duplicates you have, but merging them is part of a paid plan.
Finding duplicates
From the Dashboard, under Quick Actions, click Find duplicates (or open Deduplication). Vault groups similar items into clusters, each shown with a “% match” confidence.
How merging works
In each cluster, one item is the Target - the item everything merges into. You can pick a different one with Make target. Decide what to do with the cluster (or with each other item), then click Apply. Merged-away items are moved to the Trash, not deleted permanently, so you can recover them if needed.
Merge strategies
You can merge a whole cluster at once:
- Careful merge - fills blank fields on the target with values from the other items; it never overwrites a field that already has a value. The other items are moved to Trash.
- Full merge - takes the newest values into the target (password, username, TOTP), combines the URLs, and appends the other items’ notes. The other items are moved to Trash.
Or set an action on each item in the cluster:
- Fill blanks in target - fills the target’s empty fields from this item, then trashes this item.
- Overwrite target from this - overwrites the target wherever this item has a value, then trashes this item.
- Trash this - leaves the target alone and trashes this item.
- Skip - does nothing; leaves this item as it is.
When importing
The same idea applies when you import a file. If items look like duplicates of what’s already in your vault, you choose per item: Keep existing, Import as new copy, Careful merge, Full merge, or Replace - which wipes the existing entry and replaces it with the imported one.
Tips
- Check the live preview of the Target before you Apply.
- Merged items go to Trash, so you can undo a mistake from there.
