Add credentials to your vault

Overview

Add new login credentials to your vault manually or save them automatically when you log in to websites.

  1. Navigate to a website and log in normally
  2. Vault notification appears asking to save the login
  3. Click Save in the notification popup
  4. The login is automatically saved with the website URL

Method 2: Add Manually via Web Vault

  1. Log in to your Vault at vault.heimlane.io
  2. Click the + New button
  3. Select Login from the menu
  4. Fill in the details:
    • Name: A descriptive name (e.g., “Gmail - Work”)
    • Username: Your login username or email
    • Password: Click the generate icon (⟳) to create a strong password, or enter an existing one
    • URI: The website URL (e.g., https://gmail.com)
  5. Click Save

Method 3: Add via Browser Extension

  1. Click the Vault icon in your browser toolbar
  2. Click the + button at the bottom
  3. Select Login
  4. Fill in the required fields
  5. Click Save

Additional Fields

You can also add:

  • Folder: Organize the entry into a folder
  • Notes: Add any relevant notes (securely encrypted)
  • Custom Fields: Add extra fields like security questions, PINs, etc.
  • TOTP (Authenticator Key): Store 2FA codes for the website

Tips

  • Use the built-in password generator for every new account
  • Add the website favicon by including the correct URI
  • Use the Notes field to store security questions and answers
  • Add multiple URIs if the same login works on multiple sites
