Overview
Vault makes it easy to import passwords from your browser or another password manager, so you can get started quickly without manually entering each credential.

Steps
1. Export from your current password manager
Each manager has different export steps (see format-specific instructions below). Most export to CSV or JSON format. Save the exported file to a secure location.
2. Open the Import tool in Vault
- Log in to your Vault web app
- Navigate to Tools in the top menu
- Click Import Data
3. Select your import source
- Under File format, select your previous manager from the dropdown
- Popular options appear first, followed by an alphabetical list
4. Choose destination
- Vault: Select “My Vault” for personal items, or a Zone if applicable
- Folder: Optionally select a folder to organize imported items
5. Upload or paste your data
- Click Choose File to select your exported file
- Or paste the file contents directly into the text area
6. Click Import Data
- Review the import summary
- Your passwords are now in your vault!
Format-Specific Instructions
Chrome:
- Go to
chrome://password-manager/settings - Click Download file under “Export passwords”
- Enter your computer password when prompted
- Save the CSV file
Firefox:
- Go to
about:logins - Click the three dots menu (⋮)
- Select Export Logins
- Save the CSV file
Safari / macOS:
- Open Safari > Preferences > Passwords
- Click the three dots menu at the bottom
- Select Export All Passwords
- Save the CSV file
LastPass:
- Log in to your LastPass vault
- Go to Account Options > Advanced > Export
- Enter your master password
- Save the CSV file
1Password:
- Open 1Password desktop app
- Go to File > Export > All Items
- Select 1Password Unencrypted Export (.1pux)
- Save the file
Tips
- Delete the export file after importing for security
- Review imported items for duplicates
- Use folders to organize imported passwords by category
- Some imports may include items other than logins (notes, cards, etc.)
Troubleshooting
Issue: Import fails with an error Solution: Ensure the file format matches your selection. Try exporting again if the file is corrupted.
Issue: Some passwords are missing after import Solution: Some managers use proprietary fields that can’t be imported. Check if items were exported correctly from the source.
Issue: Duplicate entries appear Solution: Vault doesn’t automatically detect duplicates. You can manually delete or merge duplicate entries.
