Welcome to Heimlane Vault! This guide walks you through the essential steps to secure your digital life right after creating your account.
Steps
1. Verify your email
- Check your inbox for a verification email from Heimlane
- Click the Verify Email link in the message
- If you don’t see the email, check your spam folder or click Resend verification email in Settings
2. Install the browser extension
- Go to your browser’s extension store (Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons, etc.)
- Search for “Heimlane Vault”
- Click Add to Browser or Install
- Pin the extension to your toolbar for easy access
3. Add your first password
- Click the + New button in your vault
- Select Login
- Enter the website URL, username, and password
- Click Save
4. Import existing passwords (optional)
- Navigate to Tools > Import Data
- Select your previous password manager or browser
- Follow the instructions to export and import your data
5. Enable two-factor authentication
- Go to Settings > Security > Two-step login
- Click Manage next to Authenticator App
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app
- Enter the 6-digit code to confirm
Tips
- Write down your master password and store it in a safe place - it cannot be recovered
- Save your 2FA recovery codes in a secure location separate from your vault
- Start by importing passwords from your browser to save time
