Vault on iOS and Android

Overview

Use Heimlane Vault on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. The mobile apps provide full vault access plus autofill for apps and browsers.

iOS (iPhone & iPad):

Android:

Setting Up

  1. Download and open the app
  2. Tap Log In
  3. Enter your email address
  4. Enter your master password
  5. Complete 2FA if enabled
  6. Your vault syncs automatically

Enable Autofill

On iOS:

  1. Go to iOS Settings > Passwords
  2. Tap Password Options
  3. Enable AutoFill Passwords
  4. Select Heimlane Vault

On Android:

  1. Go to Android Settings > System > Languages & Input
  2. Tap Autofill service
  3. Select Heimlane Vault
  4. Confirm the permission

Using Autofill

When you encounter a login screen:

iOS:

  1. Tap the username or password field
  2. Tap Passwords above the keyboard (or the key icon)
  3. Authenticate with Face ID/Touch ID
  4. Select the matching login

Android:

  1. Tap the username or password field
  2. Tap the Vault autofill suggestion
  3. Authenticate if prompted
  4. Credentials fill automatically

Biometric Unlock

Enable Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint for faster access:

  1. Open the Vault app
  2. Go to Settings > Security
  3. Enable Unlock with Face ID / Unlock with Biometrics
  4. Confirm with your master password

You’ll still need your master password:

  • After app updates
  • After device restart
  • Periodically for security (configurable)

Mobile-Specific Features

Quick Copy:

  • Long-press any item to copy username or password

Camera Scan:

  • Scan QR codes to add TOTP authenticators
  • Scan documents to add as secure notes

Widgets (iOS):

  • Add favorites widget to Home Screen
  • Quick access to frequently used items

Quick Settings Tile (Android):

  • Add Vault to quick settings
  • One-tap access to vault

Troubleshooting

Problem: Autofill not appearing

Solutions:

  1. Check autofill is enabled in device settings
  2. Ensure you’re logged into the Vault app
  3. Some apps block autofill - use copy/paste instead

Problem: Biometric unlock not working

Solutions:

  1. Re-enable in Vault settings
  2. Check device biometric settings
  3. Enter master password to reset

Problem: App crashes or freezes

Solutions:

  1. Update to the latest version
  2. Restart your device
  3. Reinstall the app (your data syncs from cloud)

Tips

  • Enable biometric unlock for convenience without sacrificing security
  • Use the share extension to save new logins
  • Pin frequently used items for quick access
  • Set up Apple Watch / Wear OS companion if available
