Update your account email address

Overview

Your email address is your Vault account identifier. You can change it while keeping all your vault data intact.

Before You Change

Consider these important points:

  • You’ll need access to both your current and new email
  • Emergency access contacts will need to be re-confirmed
  • Zone invitations are tied to email - notify Zone owners if needed
  • Premium subscriptions stay with your account

Steps to Change Email

  1. Log in to the web vault at vault.heimlane.io
  2. Click your profile icon in the top right
  3. Select Account Settings
  4. Under Email, click Change Email
  5. Enter your master password to confirm
  6. Enter your new email address
  7. Check your new email for a verification link
  8. Click the verification link to confirm

Your email is updated once you verify the new address.

Verification Email Not Arriving?

If you don’t see the verification email:

  1. Check your spam/junk folder
  2. Wait a few minutes and check again
  3. Verify you entered the correct email
  4. Try resending the verification email
  5. Check if your email provider blocks automated emails

After Changing Email

  • Log out and back in with your new email
  • Update any saved logins on your devices
  • Browser extensions may need to be logged in again
  • Your master password remains the same

Troubleshooting

Problem: Can’t verify new email

Solutions:

  1. Check spam folder
  2. Add no-reply@heimlane.io to contacts
  3. Try a different email address
  4. Contact support if persistent

Problem: Locked out after email change

Solutions:

  1. Use your new email to log in
  2. Your master password hasn’t changed
  3. Try password hint if you forgot master password
  4. Contact support with account verification

Tips

  • Use a personal email you’ll always have access to
  • Avoid work emails that may be deactivated if you leave
  • Keep your email account secure with 2FA
  • Update your password manager if storing Vault credentials elsewhere
